Unita, one of the largest socialist newspapers in the world, comments: "Non è risparmiata una satira pungente nei confronti di un sistema politico a pezzi, il cui eroe è impersonato dal goffo Vladislav: un segretario di partito cicciotello e dall’aria poco furba, che accoglie il giocatore in un mare di immondizia. Ma quella di Monochrom non è soltanto una banale sarcasmo politico perché nel prendere le distanze dalla realtà corrotta e fatiscente del socialismo russo, si percepisce anche una certa nostalgia per un mondo diverso, forse mai esistito: un mondo orribile, ma che lasciava lo spazio al sogno di un mondo migliore. Così Vladislav può essere interpretato come uno squallido funzionario di partito, infarcito di retorica vetero-comunista ma anche, nella sua tenace resistenza agli attacchi dei “nemici” occidentali, come un personaggio quasi eroico. Ne deriva un gioco esilarante e coinvolgente, ma anche, per la complessità e la ricchezza di riflessioni che suscita, una consapevole provocazione artistica."
