Everthing is so silent now. Where did the all the noise go to? I used to yearn for peace and tranquility, but now that i have gotten it, it is not what i have expected. |
I yanked my saw from my disorganised shed, striding resolutely to that tree. That dreaded one. The one that would fill me with regret.
The racket caused by my old saw biting earnestly into the tree brought warm relief to my ears. |
I worked tirelessly all afternoon. Determined to finish my job. |
The splinters from the broken logs showered all across the ground. Like blood from limb. |
The remains of the tree burned brightly in the fireplace. I could not feel the warmth. The temporary relief that i had enjoyed in the afternoon, had all but vanished. The heavy silence had descended once more. The knot of pain was still rattling in my chest. It had not gone away. |
I should have hacked that tree a long time ago. I should have. Then dear Johnny wouldn't have fallen from his favourite hiding place.Oh, the guilt and the pain...help me. |
