They say that you can learn a lot about the life of a tree by examining the rings of its trunk. |

The number and thickness of them will tell you how many years the tree has seen and how it fared in each, rainfall or draught -- but it's only when the tree's life is at its end that you can read the whole story. Otherwise, all you see is gnarly bark. |

It's no different with people. Well, not the part about the rings, but the other parts. Only when a body is faced with their own mortality can they take proper stock of the life they have lived... |
